The Oberoi House is a luxury self-catering holiday home in central Portree, the main town on the Isle of Skye. Built in 1889, the Victorian house stands in its own garden on Staffin Road, a short walk from Portree harbour, the shops and the restaurants, and looks out over Loch Portree towards the hills.
It is one of the largest holiday homes in Portree, made for families and groups of friends travelling together. There are four bedrooms, and every one is en-suite: two king bedrooms and a double on the first floor, and a bright king bedroom in the loft under the skylights. With the downstairs powder room that makes 4.5 bathrooms, so up to eight guests can share a house without ever sharing a bathroom. If you are comparing hotels in Portree, it is the space of four rooms with a kitchen, a living room and a garden of your own.
Downstairs, a wood-burning fire warms the living room, and a custom-made dining table looks out over Loch Portree. The fully equipped kitchen has a double oven and a dishwasher for cooking together after a day out. Upstairs, the principal bedroom has a freestanding bath. There is fast Wi-Fi with a dedicated workspace, a 65-inch smart TV, a utility room for drying walking kit, a fenced back garden and free driveway parking for two cars. Self check-in with a smart lock is from 5pm.
Portree is the best base on the Isle of Skye for most visitors. The Old Man of Storr is about 12 minutes away by car, the Quiraing about 35, Talisker Distillery about 27 and Dunvegan Castle about 32. Come home in the evening and walk into town for dinner, with no long drive back. What is parking like?
There are 2 free parking spaces on our driveway. It is steep with a narrow turn, so we recommend experienced drivers for larger vehicles. Free on-street and public parking is nearby.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 5pm and check-out is by 10am. You let yourself in with a smart lock, and we send clear directions and instructions before you arrive.
Can we bring our dog?
Sorry, pets are not allowed in the house. It is also non-smoking, and we do not accept parties or events. Thank you for understanding.
